Abstract
The bronze head of L. Cornelius Pusio, ca. 69, now in the Museo Nazionale in Rome, had been the victim of an earlier restoration. Fragments were brutally made to fit by cutting, filing, and new coldwork, and patinated chemically. Nevertheless, details of the ancient manufacturing process could be found and documented photographically. Analyses show the head and the solder between head and body (now nearly totally lost) to be lead tin bronzes.
