Traditional housekeeping is insufficient for long-term preservation. Trust now houses preventive conservation, such as: limiting number of visitors, especially to rooms above plaster ceilings; halting acess to cantilevered staircases (Claydon, Bucks); curtains first repaired, then later replaced, etc.
