Abstract
This paper reports on the work undertaken since 1982 as part of a joint project between UNDP, the Burmese Government, and ICCROM, for the conservation of the mural paintings and external stuccoes of the temples of the ancient Burmese capital of Pagan. The causes of deterioration, the types of damage encountered, and the conservation treatments are described, as well as the analysis of the component materials. -- AATA
