Abstract
The conservation of the large collection of Japanese block-printed books at the British Museum is considered in relation to all the other demands made on the Eastern Pictorial Art conservation studio. Describes the damage which may exist in the books and the process of assessing the amount of work which can be justified. The techniques of conservation used at the British Museum on Japanese books are described in some detail, with special reference to a recent case history. -- AATA
