Abstract
The rebuilding of the roof of the South Transept of the York Minster is described. The original roof dated from the 13th century and was destroyed by fire in 1984. The choice of new roof (completed in October 1986), its design including design of the joints, fabrication, and erection are described. The design included provisions to impart limited fire resistance. -- AATA
