Abstract
Seven of 24 oak piles from the foundations of the town wall of the Colonia Ulpia Traiana (Xanten, Rhineland) could be dated by dendrochronology. They were cut down in 105 AD. Comparison with the South German oak chronology leads to the supposition that the trees had grown in the Main area. -- AATA
