In this research report, the authors treat the problem of interaction between atmospheric particles and stone surfaces. The role of glassy particles, e.g., fly ash emitted by combustion sources such as electric power plants, in the mechanisms of weathering is pointed out. The analytical data concerning glassy particles found on stone surfaces are reported. -- AATA
