Abstract
Presents the National Maritime Museum's conservation policy for a collection of over 3,000 ship models. This includes examination, value assessment, and accurate recording. A discussion on the museum's attitude toward active and passive conservation precedes recommendations on storage and display environmental conditions, the presentation of practical guidelines for treatment and handling, and policy statements on reconstruction of rigging, woodwork, decorative features, textiles, sails and flags, and metal fittings.
