Abstract
The potential of the no-longer-used 1910-Beaux Arts Post Office and Courthouse, a structurally sound, well-situated building, was realized by the Grand Rapids Art Museum. An extensive renovation program was undertaken which involved preserving as much of the old as possible, modemizing the mechanical systems, and making the spaces relevant to an art museum. In September, 1981, the Museum moved into its new home.
