Abstract
An identification of materials and description of decay is presented. The history of previous interventions is given. Deterioration products, including antarcticite, weddellite, humboldtine are identified. It was found that metals in surface crusts may act as catalysts for SO<sub>2</sub> oxidation. An analysis of traces of polychromy was also performed. Lime was found to be the binder.
