Abstract
The problems with reactive dyes on cellulose fibers are outlined as being low exhaustion and fixation; poor levelness and reproducibility; and performance failings. Soaping after dyeing reduces performance problems although acid hydrolysis from atmospheric pollutants and oxidative decomposition from oxidizing agents can contribute to the degeneration of thedye. A bifunctional reactive dye with a vinyl sulfone and a monochlorotriazine group is recommended. -- AATA
