Abstract
A new conservation method for waterlogged wood is presented: alcohol, ether, and finally anhydrous lanolin in ether, after which the material can be dried. This method -- especially suited for the treatment of small wooden objects, preferably with a still more or less hard core -- has the particular advantage of conserving the color and natural aspect of the wood, while limiting or eliminating shrinkage and deformation.
