Abstract
Sculptures from the 18th century which suffered from flaking of the paint layer were impregnated by immersion for ten seconds in a molten mixture of dammar and bleached beeswax (1:4). Other consolidants in aqueous solution softened the priming of chalk. A second immersion of two seconds closed missing parts of the surface.
