Abstract
The procedure of dendrochronology is reviewed, and factors affecting the growth of trees are discussed. Development of dendrochronology in Japan is traced historically. Correlation between trees and master indices is exemplified with reference to cypress samples in Kamigamo in Kyoto. -- AATA
