Abstract
Apparatus was built capable of producing pressure and temperature levels low enough in each case for waterlogged wooden archaeological objects to dry with minimal shrinkage or splitting within periods from one to eight weeks. Actual drying time depended upon bulk, cell condition, and the capability of polyethylene glycol pretreatment to mitigate damage due to the expansion of frozen water in cellular matter. This article is devoted to the construction of inexpensive equipment for medium-scale laboratory undertakings. -- AATA
