This article oulines the use of a device to determine the strength and direction of thermoremanent magnetism in the iron content of ancient baked-clay artifacts. This information can be used to date such artifacts. As the method can be used on very small samples, 2mm diameter, a calibration graph of field intensity v. time can be prepared using samples obtained from dated artifacts. From oxide inclusions bronzes may also be dated by this technique. -- AATA
