Abstract
Computerized spectroscopic analysis is destined to become an important tool in art conservation. Fourier analysis of the pressure variations in line structure could produce objective evidence on controversial matters, separating the spontaneity in the style of a master from the stiffness of his imitator. The results may have some adverse effects in the art market but art scholarship as a whole would surely gain.
