This article describes efforts in progress to restore water logged books from the Corning Library. The investigation shows new techniques are evolving in the restoring of water damaged papers. The use of the dielectric drier for quick thawing and possibly completely drying looks most hopeful. Techniques for the handling of coated papers already shows promise. The use of solvents in mud removal also shows promise. Thus further work on these approaches will continue into the second quarter while at the same time it is hoped that additional new techniques can be developed.
