Abstract
This booklet describes the art collection of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation comprising almost 5,000 pieces, gathered over more than 40 years (1900-1945) by Calouste Sarkis Gulbenkian. It covers the history of art from classical antiquity to the beginning of the 20th century. It is one of the largest collections of Islamic art in the world, and also includes masterpieces of 18th century French art. In addition, there is a large section of Greek and Roman coins. The Islamic collection includes glassware, carpets, textiles, prints, and Syrian mosque lamps. The entire collection is housed in a museum in Lisbon, Portugal.
