Abstract
Autoradiography, a technique used to study the distributions of pigments in paintings and to enhance historic photographs, can also be used in studies of biological function. This article is a description of the laboratory procedures used for using autoradiography to identify sites of synthesis, storage, transport, action, metabolism, and excretion. The technique is an example of combined functional and morphological approaches to cell biology.
