Abstract
Describes a technique of paper artifact mounting which should be carried out by qualified conservators. The article gives a short background of papermaking and paper quality, then a justification of the inlay technique versus backing a print or manuscript onto another piece of paper. The actual technique involves cutting out a paper frame into which the artifact is laid and pasted. The inlaid artifact can then be matted for display and study.
