Abstract
Using artificial aging techniques on naturally aged paper, the authors conclude that the chemical processes by which aging occurs are different for natural aging and artificial aging. Reliable conclusions about long term aging of paper cannot be made using artificial aging techniques. If artificial aging techniques are used, however, tests should be conducted at 80°C and 65% relative humidity. See also AATA 17-1071 and 18-26.
