Abstract
This is a survey of the methods of preparing wrinkle, crystalline, crackle, textured, pebble, veiled, spatter, hammer, metallic, pearlescent, mirror, multicolor, grained, and flock coatings. In the case of crackle lacquers, a high viscosity grade nitrocellulose is generally used, poorly plasticized and highly pigmented. If a film of insufficient tensile strength is employed, an excessive number of cracks form. Pigment concentration and film thickness are important factors. Fastevaporating solvents accentuate the development of stress. -- AATA
