Abstract
Two examples are discussed. One, the introduction of flexible fused silica wall-coated opentubular columns (FFSC) for GLC of methyl esters of fatty acids, was expected to be a simple adaption of GLC technology already currently in use, and yet has presented some novel problems. The second new chromatographic technique, the Latroscan-Chromarod TLC/flame ionization detector, superficially is an extension of ordinary glass plate TLC, but in practice is a very flexible analytical system, the potential of which is probably not yet fully realized. -- AATA
