Abstract
Gamma-ray spectrometry was used in the non-destructive dating of the fossil human skull Orago XXI, from the Tautavel village in the eastern pyrenees. The <sub>230</sub>Th, <sub>231</sub>Pa, <sub>234</sub>U, <sub>238</sub>U, and <sub>228</sub>Th levels were determined. The <sub>230</sub>Th/<sub>238</sub>U and <sub>234</sub>U/<sub>238</sub>U ratios were respectively 0.975 an d 0.990. The age of the fossil was then calculated between 1000-400, 000 years old. -- AATA
