Abstract
Cites a number of excavated sites throughout China in which * 2urushi*1 lacquerware was found, and discusses the environmental conditions of a burial site (temperature, moisture, temperature and acidity of the soil, and air quality of the tomb) which promote good preservation. For those excavated pieces which have become moisture-saturated, he sets down eight slow (several years) drying methods, three vacuum methods, and two solvent displacement methods. -- AATA
