This article presents descriptions and illustrations of imported pottery and glass from Timna', the capital of the Qatabanian Kingdom in what is now the Kingdom of Yemen. The area was apparently not penetrated by Romans, but the site was on the incense trade route, and this evidently accounts for the imported Roman wares. The imported pieces that are described and illustrated in this article include (1) ACO ware, from the Po Valley in North Italy, (2) Italian ( Arretine ) Sigillata, (3) Near Eastern Sigillata Wares, (4) Thorn Ware, (5) Lead Glazed Ware, and (6) Glass. The discussions of these imported wares include speculations as to the origins of each specimen. The destruction of the city by its neighbors is inferred to have taken place sometime after A.D. 9 based on the dates of production of the imported Roman wares.
