Abstract
The Redpath Museum of McGill University has a large collection of Laconian votive figurines. The corrosion condition can be estimated from the present density and the original metal thickness, which was measured by gamma-ray attenuation. The superconducting properties of lead alloys are different from those of pure lead and insensitive to nonsuperconducting corrosion products. The properties T<sub>c</sub>, DELTAT<sub>c</sub>, H<sub>c</sub>, and DELTAH<sub>c</sub> were measured in a selection of figurines; the samples appeared to be of unalloyed lead.
