Abstract
Discusses the identification of pigments from various watercolor paintings in the collection of the Fogg Museum and also pigments in a box of watercolors belonging to Winslow Homer. Examination was first carried out using a polarizing microscope. Two scanning electron microscopes, one having a microprobe attachment and the other an energydispersive x-ray detector, were employed for qualitative analysis of the samples taken from the paintings. The watercolor box pigments were analyzed using emission spectrography and x-ray diffractometry. -- AATA
