Abstract
The cementation process is reviewed beginning with the furnaces in Palestine dating back to 1100BC discovered by Sir Flinders Petrie. Early designs of cementation furnaces used in Germany, Sweden and England in the nineteenth century, and gas cementation furnaces for treating armor plates in the early part of the twentieth century are also described. -- AATA
