Abstract
Evidence is presented for the use of soil and ashes as floor stabilizers in Iron Age Beersheba. Botanical analyses indicate that various desert plants had been burned to produce large quantities of grey ash. The ash prevents warping or swelling of floor layers caused by water. -- AATA
