A method for the rapid recovery of data on cemeteries and other complex cultural features is described. The method, which was used to expose and record three cemeteries at Buchanan Reservoir in California under emergency salvage conditions, involves the integrated use of mechanized equipment, hand excavation, magnetic tape recording, and highly organized location, designation, and recording of feature elements. -- AATA
