Abstract
In non-technical terms this leaflet warns small museum and historical society staffs about the destructive effects of light, high humidity, air pollution, insects and careless handling of old books and paper. Repair of old bindings, rebinding as a fine craft, deacidification, fumigation, lamination, and protective measures are briefly described. A short bibliography is given.
