Abstract
The use of thermal neutron (N.A.A.) and photonuclear (p.N.A.A.) activation anal. to det. the elements in glass was investigated. The main problem encountered in the N.A.A. was the large interference produced by 15.0-hr. 24Na, owing to the large Na content of most glass. In 27 different types and brands of glass analyzed by thermal neutrons at 1.8 x 1012 n/cm.2-sec., a total of 11 elements were detected: Na, Ba, Zn, As, Co, Fe, Cr, Sc, Hf, Zr, and Sb. Studies are in progress using p.N.A.A., which does not result in very large Na -- AATA
