Description of two types of modified titanium dioxide pigments containing 33-50% titanium dioxide. The first group consists of coalesced pigments with barium sulfate or silica as the core. The second group of pigments are compounded pigments using hydroxide/carbonate of aluminum, calcium or magnesium as modifier. The pigments exhibit high oil absorption, yet display pigmentary properties comparable to those of commercial titanium dioxide. -- AATA
