Abstract
Effective operation of the spectrometer involves optimizing several parameters, particularly the window settings of the single channel analyzers, the time constants of the differential rate meters and the frequency response of the derivative unit. Optimization has been approached by both mathematical analysis and experimental trial. The most effective instrumental conditions along with illustrative analyses are discussed.
