The addition of neutral electrolytes always increased the deposition of particulate soils -- up to 100 or more times -- with both hydrophobic and hydrophilic soils, with all surfactants and on all cotton and poly-ester/cotton fibers. The concentration of soil deposited on the fabric was a linear function of the electrolyte concentration in the liquor, for not-too-high concentrations. The effect depends only on the molar con-centration of the ions and is independent of the molar weight. -- AATA
