The alkaline degradation of cellulose and oxidized celluloses, the oxi-dation of cellulose by molecular oxygen in alkaline media, and the effect of the super-molecular structure of cellulose on its alkaline and oxidative/ alkaline degradation are reviewed. -- AATA
