Abstract
Japanese lacquer films have characteristic infrared absorption spectra when they harden and exhibit a characteristic spectral change depending upon the environmental conditions during hardening. These facts enable identification of Japanese lacquer to some extent. (See AATA 16-969). Applying differential thermal analysis as an auxiliary means for identification, it was found that the change in aging can be determined and that the provenance of the sap collected can be identified.
