The drawing of watermarks from papers with printed texts using transmitted light is difficult. Successful results were obtained by covering the paper which contains the watermark with a thin transparent paper. Then a soft pencil is gently moved over the transparent paper and the watermark becomes clearly visible. The rubbing is covered with a fixative for storage or immediately photocopied.
