Abstract
Painted gravestones from an excavation near Volos in Central Greece were studied by fluorescence photography, photography under reflected ultraviolet radiation, and infrared reflectography. Poorly preserved and even lost paintings could be made visible. The pigments were analyzed. The paintings were executed in tempera.
