Abstract
The insects damaging wood and their effects are described. Wood-destroying insects mainly belong to the orders coleoptera, isoptera, hymenoptera, lepidoptera, dictyoptera, and diptera, of which the members of coleoptera and isoptera are the major wood boring insects. The appropriate use of chemicals, fumigation, or irradiation, as well as the use of insect repellents and some acceptable formulations for wooden cultural property, are described.
