Abstract
Three chronostratigraphic units in late Holocene coastal dune sand and alluvium are described: Tamatean Chronozone (ca. 1800-450 years BP), Ohuan Chronozone (ca. 450-150 years BP), and Hoatan Chronozone (150 years BP to the present day). The stratigraphy and possible cause of the chronozones are summarized, and cultural and environmental characteristics of each are outlined.
