Abstract
Fiberglass composites have weight-saving characteristics with a cost that industry may be able to accommodate. This article is aimed at describing the techniques used in examining the microscopic development of failure in a glass polyester sheet molding compound. The ultimate aim is to understand the mechanisms of fatigue failure in this system.
