Abstract
144 bronze statuettes and implements belonging to the Pelizaeus Museum in Hildesheim were chemically analyzed. As had been shown previously, the amounts of the three main components, copper, tin, and lead, vary considerably. It is thus possible to group them by similarities in their composition. The amounts of copper vary from 58-98%, tin from 0-19%, and lead, from 0-33%. The trace elements show distinct differences as well, so that groups of similar concentrations can be formed here, too. Some objects of the same type show a similar composition. Further, there is a remarkable coincidence of compositions of objects from Hildesheim with comparable objects from other German museums, which might be due to a similar place of origin. -- AATA
