Various types of adhesives for the lining of oil paintings are discussed, including glue, wax/resin, poly(vinyl acetate), Beva 371, Plextol B 500, and Paraloid B72. The author stresses the necessity for selecting a particular method or adhesive to fit the needs of the painting to be lined, instead of selecting one adhesive for use on all paintings.
