The modern urban environment presents challenges in preserving the appearance and structural integrity of bronze sculpture and historic objects. Air pollutants as well as vandals can contribute to the deterioration of these works. Several conservation approaches are possible, but probably the most feasible one in the majority of cases is to apply a surface coating as an isolation barrier. For this method to be successful, a compatible, effective material must be selected and suitably applied, followed by periodic inspection and maintenance.
