The history of tinplate is continued with reference to the operators and the plants in which they worked. Consideration is given to: typical small tinplate works in South Wales in the 19th century, including the plants at Kidwelli and Llanelli; development of the Melingriffith Tinplate Works, which were driven by water power and were comprised of a forge and two tinplate mills; Caerleon works which closed down in 1876; and the Tynewydd plant. The way in which washing and tinning of plates was carried out at Treforest Tinplate Works is described with reference to water colors displayed at the National Museum of Wales.
