This is a general account of a visit to Pretoria University, The Queen Victoria Museum, Harare, and the Livingstone Museum in Zambia, to study gold jewelry and other gold objects of the later African Iron Age from the sites of Mapungubwe, Great Zimbabwe and Ingombe Ilede. Preliminary results are presented on the study of beads, gold foil, and gold wire. -- AATA
