Abstract
Analysis of texts and study of surviving textile specimens of Yemeni textiles seem to indicate that the Yemen specialized in striped cloths, either of wool or of cotton, generally in ikat technique. The celebrated cloaks of 'ash or hibra were of striped cloth, while those of wasital were perhaps of cotton ikat.
